State of the Union-- What would YOU ask the President?

What would YOU ask President Obama?

Save the Date &  Ask for support of Epilepsy Programs!

President Obama on Google+ Chat

Monday, January 30

Immediately following the President’s State of the Union speech on Tuesday, be sure to stay tuned to WhiteHouse.gov/SOTU for a live panel featuring senior White House advisors answering your questions about the speech.  On Monday, January 30, President Obama will join the conversation in a special Google+ Hangout, a live multi-person video chat, from the White House.

Participating in the Hangout is easy -- just visit the White House YouTube channel to submit your questions and vote for your favorites between now and January 28. A few participants will be chosen to join the President in the Google+ Hangout to ask their questions of the President live!

The Epilepsy Foundation has a question, we hope you will join us in asking this:  People with epilepsy depend on many programs in order to live well and safely in their community. If deep budget cuts are needed in this country to lessen our deficit, how will you work to protect the non-defense discretionary programs that we depend on to get community-based services to help us live better and to continue research for a cure?

For more information, check out WhiteHouse.gov/SOTU to learn more about watching the enhanced State of the Union online and all the ways you can ask questions this week!

Thank you for your work and advocacy on behalf of everyone in the epilepsy community!!

As much as it would be great to be able to have President Obama show interest in Epilepsy, with so much at this time that needs immediate attention, it is unreasonable at this time. Although with the large volume of military soldiers home already or returning soon, a very large volume are returning from war with injury including Brain Injury, and unfortunatly a high volume are likely to already or develop mild to traumatic brain injury, which can lead to seizures/epilepsy too. Hopefully in time, the veterans bring awareness to Epilepsy.

So the topic I am hoping is brought up in the Presidential Debate is With the large volume of solidiers, veterans who have returned home or will soon, what services are you going to provide for them? How is this different than past services?  (To prevent like history has shown, to support the soldiers and diagnose and treat early enough to prevent long term conditions of conditions such as PTSD, Major Depression, High Anxiety and Homelessness (due to mental illness).

WITH THE ELECTION NEAR, I HOPE ALL PEOPLE WITH EPILEPSY OR DEALING WITH A FAMILY MEMBER, SPOUSE, FRIEND OR JUST CURIOUS OF LEARNING ABOUT EPILEPSY, THAT YOU HAVE PUT INTO YOUR CHOICE OF CANDIDATE, THE INCREASE DAVID AXELROD, OBAMA'S CAMPAIGN MANAGER/CHAIR OF STAFF HAS BEEN ABLE TO GIVE TO EPILEPSY AWARENESS AND INCREASED FUNDING. DAVID AXELROD'S DAUGHTER HAS BEEN STRUGGLING WITH EPILEPSY EVEN AFTER MULTIPLE TRIES OF SURGERY, VNS ETC. DAVID AXELROD'S WIFE STARTED AN ORGANIZATION TO BRING MORE AWARENESS AND FUNDING TO EPILEPSY RESEARCH, http://www.cureepilepsy.org/research/stateofepilepsy.asp

PLEASE I BEG YOU TAKE THAT IN TO SERIOUS THOUGHT BEFORE MAKING FINAL DECISION FOR PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.

I would have asked him:

"Mr. President, if you had Epilepsy and found out the massive majority of the people with Epilepsy who are out there and the lack of care and funding that is available; and how much the Congress keeps chopping the grants to assistance when it is imperative in this much needed area ... What would you do Mr. President?  And thank you...."
