Has anyone outgrown Epilepsy? What was it like? How did you know? Did it feel different? Me and my family believe I could have outgrown epilepsy because they stared when I was 4 and we think it would have been from a bike accident I had. When I was young I had Grand Mal seizures, when I was in my teens I had Patit Mals, and now I am 20 with small dizzy spells at times. They came from my left frontal lobe. So far I haven't had any bad episodes and I have been off my meds for about a month+a half but I have heard that they can come back at any time in your life and so I am freaked out. I was on Keppra last which caused me dizziness, suicidal thoughts, stress, and fake seizures. I am still having the dizzy spells and so I am trying to figure out what it's from. We don't know if they are tiny tiny seizures, from the meds still in my system, or my low blood levels. I feel fantastic as far as health off my meds but I am also nervous :( knowing it could still happen any day any years.

Ya'll don't take this wrong, but " lucky you". I'm still waiting on the day I out grow seizures. Doctors have been telling me  & my parents that for 33 years, ( that includes the doctor that delivered me in 78, who ever he was.) I went 11  years without having one & had one last month & wrecked my truck. My neurologist says I can't  will probably always be on something, everytime he has tried to take me off or even if I forget   a dose I have the absence seizures, & black out for a minute or 2 sometimes longer. Then when I come to  I don't remember what I did or was doing before I blacked out. Currently I am on topamax & lamictal. My congrads on getting off your meds, & I hope everything goes will in the future!!!!!!!!!!

I have been seizure free for 30 years now - my last recorded was when I was 14.  I was born with epilepsy and my neurologist told mt mother I would probably outgrow it, luckily I did.  However, I will let you know that when I have an eeg it still shows up when I am asleep - not major - but still there.  I have been off of medications for 28 years.  About 10 years ago I started having these moments where I could not remember what had just happened, I was worried that my body was changing again and I would start having seizures again.  My neurologist says I was not - but I still get checked out regularly.  So in a nutshell - if I am any proof, yes you can outgrow it.  The only advice I am able to give you is to try to relax but always be mindful of how you feel and what is going on - Lord willing it will all be OK.  Good Luck!

No I don't lose memory through a dizzy spell it feels weird though cause I never had a dizzy spell before in my past even before I started the meds.
