My 17yr old daughter is having vns surgery on Wednesday. Dr told her she can go back to school when she feels up to it. She wants to go back on Thursday. Is that realistic? She is a mainstream student. Also one of the reps said we can gem up the magnets to make it more fashionable is that correct?

Yes, I also have lost weight due to my meds, and vns.  I pretty sure it's the meds and the vns has nothing or little to do with it.  With the meds I have been on for the last 3 yrs.  I have lost 26 lbs. in weight.  That's no so good because I wasn't overweight to begin with.

thanks for the feedback! we are looking fwd to it. ryan was having avg of one TC per month, but alot of absence szs and myoclonic jerks, to the point of not being able to keep a job. employers always think he's on drugs or spaced out. hopefully this will help!! he is currently on 3 meds, not counting the as needed, atavan or xanex, so getting off anything at this point would be huge!

I have had an VNS for about  ten years and it has made some improvements for me on having fewer seizures. I used to have as many as 12 to 18 of them per month and was taking three or four meds at a time. After I had one put in me my number of seizures dropped down to about eight at most that I could recall having. And now I have about four or five per month at the most. Some months I have two or three with taking  two meds twice a day. It made a big change for me and my life. and I just seen my dr a few days ago and had a adjustment with it again to see if it would make things any better. Their reset it at 2.25 for every three minutes. I'm looking forward to having fewer seizures soon.

My son, Ryan, 20, is getting VNS this Thursday.  We are really excited. Hoping this will eventually lead to less meds!!
