Hi I've been on the site but not here.  My 3 year old has been dx with Myoclonic Astatic Epilepsy and has been intractable for almost a year so he is know on the M.A.D. (only just started it on Saturday) and funny thing is I can't seem to get carbs in him.  The first step was 60 grams of carb per day and I can't bearly get 20 grams in him.  And I thought this was going to be so difficult.  It is but not in the way I had thought.  So I'm here needing lots of information and recipes. My husband is a celice and I also have a 10 month old.  So things are getting interesting and did I mention I really don't like to cook.....

Great breakfast options are quinoa or Irish oats with a few TBSP heavy cream and cinnamon. Or some homemade flax bread with cream cheese. (I use a cookie cutter to cut this into circles like a bagel)
We also do French toast with oopsie rolls.
Try switching from cow milk to almond milk. It cuts carbs fast and easily!
My daughter loves tacos in a lettuce wrap. Any protein you choose- fish, chicken, beef or tofu all work, with salsa, guacamole, sour cream and cheese all rolled in a romaine heart. The lettuce gives that satisfying crunch and if you set out a buffet of toppings the family can choose their own.
I've found that searching paleo recipes has yielded a ton of new ideas. Paleo is grain free so uses nut based flours. They use honey which isn't low GI but you can sub agave because it's the same texture.

I need help! I am 31 y.o. with intractable absence and generalized ideopathic epilepsy. Started LGIT 1 week ago and have gone over carb count every day by about 30 grams. The nutrionist is going to try to help me next week, but I am having a hard time figuring out what to eat for breakfast lunch and dinner that is not steak or bacon or egg. Any advice?!

Hi everyone, I just wanted to introduce myself. My daughter, Delia, was diagnosed with epilepsy at 4 weeks of age. We are currently on the LGIT diet and are looking at possibly going full Keto if the latest adjustments don't work. Any help or great new main dishes would be great. I am looking forward to connecting with all of you.

Hello everyone. I have always been a firm believer that diet controlled every aspect or our lives. For years I was a vegetarian and when I started eating flesh again my life fell apart. Now that I am being treated for epilepsy I have gradually started going back to my vegetarian diet. I started by eliminating beef from my diet in February of this year. I feel much better. One of my church members told me that people with seizure disorders should stay away from sage. Is anyone aware of that?

capital "T" refers to tablespoon. small "t" refers to teaspoon. I really should be more careful to spell them out!

Ok bear with me here... I'm working on cooking for Ava. When you put T (ex. 2 T Agave nectar) what does T mean?? Thank you!!! Jenn
