I'm transgender with undiagnosed siezures, either ADD or epilepsy. I have a MRI and EEG on November 11, but i'm starting to fail classes. Does anybody have any ideas on what I can do?Continue
Well, everyone, our little group is slowly drawing in members. Time for some storytelling.
I am a 50 yr old gay man who came out approximately 30 years ago. I currently live in Cape May County, NJ and have been working for the Home Depot for 10 years. When I came out was just as AIDS entered our lives and I was living in Philadelphia. The seizures began, and it was suggested I not live alone for awhile, so it was to my parents. During the time with my folks, quite a few friends were either sick, or gone from the disease. The folks were moving to the beach, and I didn't want to move back to a city that had become, to me anyway, a ghost town. Moving to an area without a large GLBT presence has been frustrating, cause those who are here are in relationships, and don't look kindly on a single gay man. Especially one with epilepsy...living with his mother...not driving...how many strikes could I have? (lol) The seizure community is not very prevelant, and the one man who identified himself as epileptic, at least where I worked, suffered a massive seizure and died.
My seizures are currently under control with the help of Keppra and lamictal, but breakthroughs have occurred. I have become strong advocate for the EEOC and ADA laws (please familiarize yourselves to these important laws as they cover us as both epileptics and gay) much to the frustration of some members of Home Depot management. I am currently under consideration for surgery, but am hesitant as I am quite comfortable the way things are....the quiet life I don't want to screw around with.
How about you others??
Eugina...what is going on? between you and AC?
My goodness, Eugina, I didn't think anyone was interested in this group. It's been some time. Well, welcome! I hope we can interest others, again, cause having seizures is one thing, but sometimes we need to talk about other parts ourselves.
Welcome, Adam...we gotta get the word out...this door seems to stay shut!
Hey Kids, Nice to see there is a lil group for us. Thanks Allen
Just moved 70 miles north of NYC to upstate NY which is a small town. Am very discreet. See a few Gay people here but they are deeply closeted. Presently looking for a part time job for psycho-social reasons. Have put in an application to all public housing here and elsewhere. Anybody Gay live in a small town and how did you cope with it? Thank you for the feedback.
And a big welcom to JaneE as well.
Well, thanks for coming in Joe...it's been quiet so far.
thank you for accepting me to your group
