Epilepsy Still Not Completely Understood
Pat Dean, President of the Florida Foundation's Board, discusses the need for more governmental epilepsy research support with a S. Florida television station. The report also highlights the case of Madison Deriveaux, 7, who has suffered from epilepsy from infancy.

AED medication switching - the Today Show (NBC)
A look at the serious (and potentially dangerous) issue of medication switching (i.e.: name-brand to generic, generic to different generic, etc.). In many cases, those suffering from epilepsy are not aware their medication has been switched until they suffer a seizure after being seizure-free. The Epilepsy Foundation is advocating against switching without patient/physician consent.

Good Morning America examines the issue of medication switching. It's an informative piece but still leaves the impression that there is something that can be done to prevent switching - which unfortunately may not be true in all cases.

My name is Brian and I'm 23 years old.  I have had partial complex epilepsy since I was 8 years old.  I would like to talk to people around my age who have epilepsy.

Hey guys! i am currently looking for a insurance company. Now with the obama care change, i dont know where to start and what to look for in the policies. What i do need is a company that would pay the most of my brand meds. Can anyone give me a hand here?

Has anyone been referred to Shands? If so what should I expect my first appointment?

Comment by Annette on October 12, 2012 at 4:58pm

I've had a number of complex partial seizures this week alone. It can be a challenge since Fall weather will effect the number of seizures I have on a daily basis. If you live in the Tampa, FL area, I'd  love to talk with you about these issues, and what you experience and how you and your family cope with your seizure activity. There is a TGH Epilepsy Support Group just for this. I attend it. I'd love to meet some others like me. Here is the info: http://www.tgh.org/sg.htm#q18
