hello everyone, im getting married in the spring and I have been thinking about babies for a while, my only hesitance for this is that I have had epilepsy from age seven to twenty one. I haven't had a seizure in five years (knock on wood). since I am the only one in my family to ever have an epilepsy diagnoses. whenever I get thinking about this issue I cant help think if I pass this gene onto my baby that they'll have to endure the mri's and eeg's along with the possible medications and surgeries. and I cant do that, not knowing what its like personally taking a toll on the self-esteem. am I looking into this to much or are these just blunt matters.

Courtney, I can understand your position- I had a mild stroke after the temporal surgery which was after my 3yr old but before my now 5/6 month old so it is possible, don't know specifics but I did it :)

Hi everyone! My husband and I are considering having a baby soon.  I am 28 and have had epilepsy for 18 years (since I was 11).  Well, technically since I was 12...I had a stroke at 11.  This brings me to my next question, not only is there a good chance of conceiving while on the medication, but since I've had a stroke what are my chances of having another one while pregnant?
