I have an 18 year old daughter who has partial compex seizures. She takes trileptal, lamictal and depacote. She has a VNS which did not help her. Has anyone tried nuero feedback? What have been the results?

There are some here who have tried this with success. If you do an archive search for Bernard, his wife uses this. He has a lot of information on neurofeedback. I hope you can find success for your daughter! My son is 18 and also has complex partial seizures. (11 years worth). We have tried 8 different medications and combinations. The current are lyrica and Topamax which are doing fairly well.

Haven't tried it yet but going to start soon, It will be very interesting to see what happens.
I am all ears with this, too, as my daughter's seizures are still here after surgery and many medication trials.

I tried neurofeedback, I had close to 40 sessions, with a psycologist trained to perform this who was in my area. It didn't cure me, but I was able to decrease my dose on tegretol from 1000 mg/day to 800mg/day. I stopped going bc my schedule, etc. but I think it works. Oh, and it improved my sleeping significantly. I always had problems with that growing up. Unfortunately, I was taken off tegretol and put on all other kinds of things which messed me up, so now I am worse than when I started. I might consider going back to biofeedback.

This treatment is controversial, more well-known for treating ADD/ADHD than epilepsy, but I would look into it. What is the worst that can happen? It doesn't work, she stays the same... at least it won't affect her negatively, the way drugs do. Good luck!

For some people neurofeedback therapy can help to reduce seizures, and it should have no negative side effects.
