Permalink Reply by Louise on December 13, 2009 at 3:13pm I tried neurofeedback, I had close to 40 sessions, with a psycologist trained to perform this who was in my area. It didn't cure me, but I was able to decrease my dose on tegretol from 1000 mg/day to 800mg/day. I stopped going bc my schedule, etc. but I think it works. Oh, and it improved my sleeping significantly. I always had problems with that growing up. Unfortunately, I was taken off tegretol and put on all other kinds of things which messed me up, so now I am worse than when I started. I might consider going back to biofeedback.
This treatment is controversial, more well-known for treating ADD/ADHD than epilepsy, but I would look into it. What is the worst that can happen? It doesn't work, she stays the same... at least it won't affect her negatively, the way drugs do. Good luck!
