We did with success for a long time:)

I'm currently taking Keppra and have been for the past 5 years. The medication hasn't had extreme side effects for me, except when I accidentally doubled my dosage when I was really tired. I had severe hair loss when that occurred.

Although I have eyelid myoclonia with absences, the Keppra is really only helping me as a preventative for grand mals. I really don't want to take it because I feel as though I've lost some coordination from it. My best advice is to try it and see how it effects you or whomever.

About the dosage: http://www.rxlist.com/keppra-drug/indications-dosage.htm < that website should help you with everything you need to know about Keppra and the dosage.

Best of luck to you,

For 3 years, I took Keppra alone without terrible side-effects. I felt a little less energetic and a little less focused, but it was subtle. I didn't have the anger issues some people experience.

Did it work? Hard to know. I was seizure-free for those 3 years after a single initial seizure plus maybe a small number of others in my sleep. On the strength of that, I tried going drug-free, and remained seizure-free for another 3 years. Now the seizures are back, so that experiment is over. With that history, though, it's really impossible to know whether the Keppra made a positive difference or not, isn't it?

I take keppra. It is wonderful for me. I take 1000 mg twice a day. My only side effect is sleepiness. I think the lowest pill dosage is 500 mg.
